Why recommend bth4 - break the habit to your clients? |
The bth4 mouth guard has been used to successfully treat more than 85% of patients with severe bruxism symptoms. Initial trials targeted only cases with severe bruxism where other treatments were unsuccessful. bth4 is the leader biofeedback treatment for severe bruxism.
|
Conventional mouth guards are excellent preventing teeth damage but may not correct many of bruxism’s devastating effects. bth4 promotes more desirable behavior by eliminating the excessive forces during occlusion and encouraging a more natural resting position, plus fitting time is practically eliminated!

Why experts are choosing bth4 - break the habit? |
bth4 was created on the premise that grinding (clenching) is not the problem but, rather the excessive pressure applied to the jaw. Many biofeedback devices are based on electronics and rely on batteries. Some even have the battery stored in the mouth, which could be potentially harmful. Another problem that often occurs with electronic biofeedback devices is something called a “false trigger”. Many of these devices are focused on detecting muscle activity and detect other movements, such as turning in bed, giving feedback that is inappropriate. This makes it hard for the patient to distinguish what the unwanted behavior is as they are receiving non-specific feedback.
Our device works without the need of complex electronics and/or batteries. This not only reduces the complexity, size and potential risk that comes with a device relying on batteries, but also significantly reduces the cost, making it more widely available to the public. |
What is the principle of operation: |
The principle of bth4 is in somewhat like a “thumb-sucking habit breaking device”. In this case, the undesirable behavior is the excessive pressure application. When using bth4 during a bruxism event, the motion of the lower jaw transfers through the feedback mechanism, making the spikes contact the palate causing immediate discomfort, this forces the user to cease the undesirable behavior.
